Rahul exhorts students to make India ’super power nation’
Vijayawada, Nov 18 : All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today called upon students to ’struggle’ hard to make
India, a ’super power’ nation.
Addressing the nearly 2,000 students at Loyala College auditorium here as part of interactive session with them, he said corruption and poverty were
the two major hurdles that was impeding the country’s economic growth.
Mr Gandhi advised the students to use Information Technology (IT) which was making the entire world more closer and also major source to achieve
the goals of oneness.
Stating that corruption in all walks of life should be banished, he exhorted the students to take a ‘pledge’ to eradicate it.
When a student posed a question to Mr Gandhi to give his opinion on implementing reservation in the educational sector, he asked the questioner and
other students present how many of them want reservation. While majority of the students replied against it, few others said they want reservation
on socio-economic basis and not on caste and annual income ceiling of the individual.
When another student pointed to Mr Gandhi that students with merit were facing the brunt due to the reservation system in education, Mr Gandhi said
‘reservation is being implemented by the government for poor people among the Backward classes.’
